A couple of years ago, with the help of Scotlandís Rural Past (RCAHMS), some of us made a survey of the ruined remains of the township of Strachurbeg.  Since then we have been collecting written records of the township, and in particular have been gathering information on the families who lived there, from the hearth tax of 1694 right up to the 1911 census and beyond.

We would love to hear from anyone who knows of any families who lived at Strachurbeg. Please contact if you have anything to share.

Surveying with the plane table was just some
of the training we received from our SRP advisors.

Although there's plenty of work to do we are a sociable crowd besides.

This surveying business requires a lot of concentration.
