A few years ago, with the help of Scotlandís Rural Past, some of us made a survey of the ruined remains of the township of Strachurbeg. Since then we have been collecting written records of the township, and in particular have been gathering information on the families who lived there, from the hearth tax of 1694 right up to the 1911 census and beyond. Although this is only a group of six houses it has given us a fascinating insight into the lives of people in the area.
We would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about people who lived at Strachurbeg.
